Photo Hunters: Clean

Are dogs mouths cleaner than humans? ABC News did an piece on uncovering the truth of this myth a few years ago. In short, the answer is no. However because many bacteria in the mouth of a dog are species specific they are not transferable to a human. Likewise staph or a strep for a human is not transmissible to a dog. In all honesty, you are more likely to get a serious illness from kissing a person than kissing a dog. Veterinarian Marty Becker, author of Chicken Soup for the Dog Owner's Soul, says dogs "love us unconditionally, they make us laugh. If we're going to give them a little kiss to thank them for that, then that's good by me."

Here is our dog Maribel, freshly clean from a bath, giving a not so clean kiss to my daughter Ellie. Ellie is a 6 year old homeschooler and she is also participating in photo hunters. Her photo hunters' post is on our homeschooling blog.

That's an adorable picture. I love the creative way you presented this photo and the nice caption about it. I love dogs too. My dog Bruno affectionately kisses my hand after giving him a refreshing bath.

Thanks for the interesting info, I had always heard it was easier to catch something from a human than from an animal!

I read Ellie's story... very nice.
Yes, dogs give wonderful kisses and seem to be more amorous when wet. Great picture for the theme.

I don't know . . . Sophie will kiss us any time, anywhere, wet or dry . . . and loves to smack us right on the lips, too. She practically washes Matthew's face for him!

That's a great photo. I don't mind dog kisses at all, so long as they don't "slip me the tung" haha

My dog is part of my clean post today.
