an·tique (ænˈtik) adj. 1. of or belonging to the past; not modern. 2. dating from a period long ago n. 1. An object having special value because of its ageThese are my grandparents, Bill and Jonnie. This picture dates back to their wedding day in 1946. My grandma moved to San Francisco from Iowa after she graduated from nursing school. She and two other nurses, who she worked with and lived with at the hospital, had gone to watch a parade. They were standing on an orange crate to see over the crowd. My grandfather was in a naval electronics school. He and two other naval officers came along and asked if they could share the orange crate, full knowing that it wouldn't hold six. It turned out that couldn't see the parade so they went to a stand where they sold frozen malteds. Although they all paired off at the time, only my grandparents made it a lasting match. They knew each other six weeks when they got engaged, and another six weeks (for a total of 3 months) when they got married. They were married for 35 and had 5 children when my grandmother was killed in a car accident. My grandfather has since remarried but he is still going to rest next to his first love when he goes to meet the Father. This is a love that has a value so great that time can not diminish it. It might not mean much to others, but to me this antique is priceless.

I like your antique! I had come over here to look at your feast. I will post my photo later---when it's Saturday! I still have to go find one I like, but yours has given me some inspiration. ;-)
Agree, antique is priceless. What a wonderful photo to cherish.
What a great memory. They look so happy.
What an absolute treasure!
AWESOME picture!!! It's really great to see that and read how long they were married before such a tragedy. They got married a year before I was born~hmmmmmmm, does that qualify me as an antique????
Come see mine at: http://beckie-photoblog.blogspot.com/
Beautiful photo and memories that you shared from it. Thank you...
I posted a picture of my grandfather, too, as he's my most favorite antique even though he died over 30 years ago. This was a very touching story, I love the way your grandparents met!
Thanks so much for sharing!
That picture is a real treasure. They look very much in love.
My photo is up.
Take care,
Connie
What a wonderful treasure you have in this photo! I love old photos and especially the love stories behind them.
what a precious memory - they look so in love.
What a lovely memory and great picture for the theme. And also for Valentine's week as well. Such love stories there were back then. I wonder if generations from now will look back with fondness to the love stories today....perhaps a few, but not as many as in years past.
Aww... a great story! And I think the car in the photo is antiques, too, since - at least in Finland - cars over 30 years (or was it 25?) are considered antiques :)
Mine's up too!
Noce photo of your grandparents.
